Students applying for Study permit in Canada may apply under below mentioned categories:

SDS (Student Direct Stream)

Student Direct Stream (SDS) is an application program introduced by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) with an agenda to make the study permit application processing smoother and faster for students. To be eligible for faster processing through the Student Direct Stream, you must be a legal resident living in either of the following countries – India, China, Morocco, Pakistan, Senegal, Vietnam and Philippines, have an acceptance letter from a post-secondary designated learning institution, prove that you paid the tuition fees for first year of study, live outside of Canada when you apply, have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of $10,000 CAD, have CAQ ( applicable if planning to study in Quebec) and have an IELTS that shows a score of 6.0 or higher in each skill.

Non-SDS

If you live anywhere other than one of the countries listed above (even if you’re a citizen of one of the countries above), or if you don’t meet the eligibility for SDS processing, you may still be eligible for a study permit through the regular study permit application process/Non – SDS program.
